Your Skin Type: Dry Skin
We all know that our skin can change, it can be really oily one day and dry the next! Given that, we all need to change our skincare routine accordingly. Many things can impact the changes in our skin type, from fluctuation of hormonal imbalances to outside environmental factors. Another factor one should consider is also genetics, we can certainly look at our family members and see why we have the skin type that we do!
DRY SKIN
If the Sahara Desert describes your skin, then you maybe suffering from dry skin. In most cases, you are dry 24hrs a day. If dry skin is not properly moisturized then the skin can look very dull and lifeless. Yes, the pores may look smaller and your skin is not usually acne prone, but the idea that dry skin doesn't suffer from break-outs, is a myth.
It turns out that drinking 8 glasses of water a day does help dry skin. Since our bodies loose a ton of water through sweating, drinking water through out the day can instantly change the texture of dry skin. Dry, static air can also irritate dry skin.
Creamy forms of cleansers and moisturizers are the best products in taking care of dry skin. The skin is able to absorb greater moisture at night and therefore you probably want to start with moisturizing twice a day if you are extremely dry.
DRY SKIN VS. DEHYDRATED SKIN : WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
Although these terms are used interchangeably, dry skin and dehydrated skin are not one and the same.
- Dry skin is an imbalance in the body that causes skin to lack essential oils. It can be caused by absence or malfunction of sweat glands.
- Dehydrated skin is skin that has just been stripped of moisture. This can be due to improper diets, the sun, alcohol, the weather, etc.
