Q&A: How does one do "red carpet" red lips without looking like a grandma?

So my friend cynthia had asked me how to rock a red lipstick, one that doesn't look so outdated.

As a makeup artist, I believe that there is a red lip for every skin tone.  You just have to be cautios of when and where to wear it!  Sometimes it's about texture and other times it's about the color pay off.  I have listed some examples of ideas below.

I hope you find this helpful Cyn!

The Look: The Classic Matte Red Lip

Suggestions for wearing this lip could go either way; casual to high glam.  This is what I would classify as the "classic" red lip.

The makeup for this lip should be neutral.  Little to no eye shadow and possibly heavy eye liner.  Some examples for my visual learners!

Product Suggestions:
- MAC REDD Lip Liner
- MAC Russiand Red and Ruby Woo Lipstick

The Look: Patent Red Leather Lips

My favorite! Ultra shiny and bright!  Perfect for HIGH GLAM events... I mean your birthday, weddings, black tie events.

Product Suggestions:
- Redd Lip Liner
- Love Alert Dazzle Glass
- Venetian Lusterglass
- Ruby Woo and Russian Red Lipstick

The Look: Satin Red-Burgandy
This is a red lip but with a twist.  Moving into the fall season, I highly reccomend every woman try this lip.  It compliments ALL skin tones.
